(More customer reviews)This is a good product as long as you understand what you're getting. It is typical of many low-end, mass produced modular furniture peices on the market. All wood pieces are "veneer" over partical board. The pieces are assembled with manufactured hardware (metal dowels and metal locking nuts that you insert into predrilled holes on each wood peice). The hardware is specifically designed for the unit so don't lose any! There are about 30 or so wood peices and at least 100 differene peices of hardware. It's best to spread it all out prior to construction.
The instructions are a small printed, so some care is needed in making sure you're working on the right peice during each step. And it it can be hard to tell which side you're supposed to be instering the hardware on some peices. No worries though, the hardware removes easy enough when you make a mistake.
Overall assembly took about an hour with the help of another adult.
The finished product looks very nice, and the shipping process resulted in only a few minor blemishes - which is really good considering we live on an island in Alaska and it came through UPS, which means it got transfered from manufacturer, to truck to jet, to float plane and then to ATV BEFORE it reached our post office... Good packaging, which definately took some abuse in shipping.
The unit is smaller than I expected but has a surprising amount of space. The corner design also fits tightly into the corner, which makes it look even smaller. Which could be a really good thing for a small house or apartment. And still it provides great storage for components. It fits our 42" Panasonic Flat screen with a few inches to spare. Has room for a PS3, a home theater receiver, DVD and VCR and the kids Wii. However, media storage is limited so you might find yourself looking for a media shelf or cabinet in which to store all your movies/games.
In summary, this is well worth the $229 we paid. (which included free super saver shipping! My best Amazon deal EVER!)

(More customer reviews)The Tech Craft BAY4828B - 48" Wide A/V Entertainment Center (black) was a perfect choice to support a black 42" LCD TV in the corner of our 24' x 16' family room. Its rich appearance and quality of construction make it a good deal for the price. Also, it's a rarity to have the option of both open and closed shelves in a TV stand. We keep a cable TV DVR and a DVD player on the convenient open shelf and Wii accessories and DVDs on the two shelves protected by the glass doors. (Our Wii sits hidden behind the TV on one side of the stand, which makes it convenient to charge and grab the controllers.)
Note that this stand affords a somewhat higher position than most for your TV, which is especially great for the Wii (It may also be advantageous for folks with toddlers and dogs, in lessening their access to the TV screen.). Its solid stance and ample depth reassures that flatscreen TVs will rest stably.
Assembly was straightforward for one person with a few simple tools. Some of the pieces are heavy, which is a testament to its quality. There was one minor flaw -- a top rear corner was bent slightly upward. Overall, we cannot be happier with our purchase.

Techcraft ABS60 60-Inch Wide Credenza (Antique Black) Review

(More customer reviews)I was so disappointed when I opened the box. I was nervous about the color because each picture it looked different and several people commented that it wasn't what they thought it would be.
Let me help you out with that one--it is a dark, dark brown. Not totally black, but close. The ugly part is that they have "distressed" it with an almost orange color. So, it ends up looking like it's black with sanded sections of orange. It's hideous. I started to put it together and just couldn't even finish it because it was so ugly.
I don't know about the construction or strength because I never finished putting it together. It seemed to be super easy to put together, that all I can say on that. If you like the Halloween look of black and orange than this TV Stand is for you... if not, avoid it! Don't let the low price suck you in! Spend a little more and get the one you really want!

South Shore Furniture City Life Collection TV Stands Review

(More customer reviews)For over 2 months my wife and I looked EVERYWHERE to find the perfect unit to house our components since I just mounted the 40" LCD on the wall. We needed certain colors, height and width dimensions and also wanted to hide everything behind glass doors. This unit was PERFECT!
I had 2 concerns with this unit though.
1) My Harmony 880 Universal Remote (Buy one of these!!) wouldn't be able to penetrate the frosted glass.
2) Enclosing my components (most importantly the PS3 and receiver) behind doors would cause overheating.
I'm happy to report that none of my fears came true. The Harmony works through the frosted doors with ease.
I'm also happy to report that my components won't overheat. My last step in the building process was to attach the backing material to the unit. Before doing so I tried to wiggle the unit a little bit and it was rock solid. As a result I left the backing unit off so everything is open in the back.
If I was placing my TV on the stand then I probably would have installed the backing but since I don't have that weight I probably don't need the extra support.
I have nothing bad to say about this unit.

54" Dark Cherry Wood Plasma TV Console Stand Entertainment Center Review

(More customer reviews)I will say up front, I was very nervous ordering this product; I usually like to buy furniture in person and if in the budget, buy solid wood (future heirlooms!). I spent a lot of time looking online and in brick & mortar stores for a stand that looked nice, was fairly inexpensive, and had storage. My research found that there are two types: The $100 metal stand, or the $500+ veneer stand with nothing in the middle. That is until we found this deal on Amazon.
As I said earlier, I was bit nervous, this unit was only available thru Amazon from this seller, it had no reviews, and it was over half the price of comparable styled models. Anyway, we decided it had everything we wanted and the price was great, so we took a chance. All I can say is wow, this unit is gorgeous!!! It is one of the best looking non-hardwood pieces of furniture I have ever seen. If the color fits our room, you cannot do better for the price!
As for ordering furniture online, my biggest fear is damage in shipping, this is another area where the manufacturer excelled in quality. The packaging was unbelievable, the main box had a 2nd lining of cardboard around the edges like a big bumper. The entire inside of the box was thick Styrofoam for cushion, and between each panel was a sheet of foam paper. When we opened it up, not one scratch or knick anywhere (18 separate pieces!).
Dislikes: Couple of little things. The sockets for the four doors are white, so the bottom ones you can see a little bit against the dark color. The middle shelves are fixed and is not tall enough for my stereo receiver. This would not be a problem except that there are no built in holes in the backboard for the side compartments where the received had to go. The last is that when assembling you have to set the doors in and the put the top on. The doors don't sit snug in their sockets, so as you are adjusting them top fitting, you tend to pinch your fingers to get them in.
Likes: This unit once built is very solid. We have a 46" LCD sitting on It and it does not wobble, wiggle, or give us any reason to think it is going to fall over or something crazy (and that is with 3 kids running around 24-7). The middle glass doors give it a very elegant feel, everyone that has seen it cannot believe the quality. The backer board is not paper like your find on most lower end dept store types, this thing has a wood panel that locks together in three pieces to give the extra rigidity (although without it, there was no wiggle, its solid!)
Overall, you will not be disappointed with is guy, well built, well shipped, and we love it.

Techcraft HBL52 52-Inch Wide TV Stand (Black) Review

(More customer reviews)As most other people commented, this is an excellent stand, very sturdy, very classy looking. Easy assembly, maybe 30-40 minutes. Before I bought this, I could not find any info on the clearance of the shelfs; I have a high end receiver (Sony STR-DG720) that is about 6.25 inches high, and it wasn't clear to me if that would fit in any of the shelves on this stand. So here is some info on shelf heights and clearance: on the bottom shelf, you can fit anything up to 5.25 inches in height, which is more than enough for DVD player, PS2, PS3, etc., but not a high end receiver. The shelf above has more clearance; units up to 6.5 inches high slide easily in from the front (or back), so my Sony Receiver fits in nicely. Since the glass above (which the TV stands on) is supported by "domed" metal beams, you actually have up to 8.5 inches of height, if you slide any unit onto that shelf from the sides. This is because the metal frames the whole unit stand on cover a little bit of the total height of the second shelf at the front and back, but not on the sides. I actually was almost able to put my center speaker bar on top of my tall receiver on this shelf when sliding it in from the side, there was just a tenth of an inch or so height missing to do that. But since there is so much horizontal space on both shelves anyway, that was not needed (one can easily fit three components side by side on each shelf). So in summary, there is more than enough height on the second shelf for tall electronic units like high end receivers. Hope this is helpful!

Walker Edison 60 inch Jamestown Wood TV Console Review

(More customer reviews)This is nice and sturdy. It wasn't to hard to put together, and I did it by myself. The only thing that was a bit tricky were the shelves in the doors. I kept getting them backwards.
The only aspects that I was not 100% happy with were the fact that the handles were made of plastic and most of the holes that were drilled for the door hinge screws were drilled to large in my opinion. I also wish that glued in wooden pegs are not all that hold on the feet.
For the screws, I ended up putting a drop of glue onto the holes and then screwing in the screws. I have yet to add my DVD's yet, but I think it will be ok.
One last thing to be aware of is that you will only have just enough wooden pegs. I broke one, and luckily enough I had some in my garage to use instead.
Over all, I think, for the sale price, I would definitely recommend this. For the full price I would not recommend it. But I do love the way it looks and it fits my dark wood and semi-retro decor. I probably will replace the handles for metal ones. Over all, not a bad product to have delivered right to your door.

(More customer reviews)Overall I would rate this very good unit. Putting it together actually was a breeze; the instructions were easy to follow and everything fit tightly. I didn't have the problem others had with drawers not fitting tightly and such. The only problem I have with the unit is the shipping: first I was not notified by email it had arrived (as I often get with ebay) so it may have sit at the appartment office for a couple extra days. The second is the top had incurred damage but it was towards the back so my TV will cover most of it - so I guess they could put more padding especially around the top since that is most visable.

My mom and I put this together in an hour and did'nt fight once so a big thumbs up!
I would recommend a hand drill instead of a screw driver as the directions call for, but if you dont have a drill, a driver will work just fine.

FedEx was lucky I was in the house when they made the delivery, because for sure, the driver would have a sore back after carrying this fine piece of furniture. It took me I think a little over 2 hours to assemble this item. Everything was perfect when it comes to placing the screws, doors, hinges, etc. Seems like this was perfectly outlined and planned in the factory for consumers to assemble all the pieces together without any glitch. My goodness, when it all came together, it looked like it was made from solid wood. Fine piece of art.
Now for the negative. This is the deciding factor for consumers whether to get it for looks over funtion. When I placed my Pioneer Elite 84 in one of the racks, whoa, I cannot close the door and this piece lacks in depth. For those people with the new huge audio-video receivers,I would say measure them first before buying this piece of furniture. Heads up to all of you guys, depth is a little less than 18 inches.
So, what i did is cut the back thin wood portion to give way for the receivers connections (back of the receiver). Now, I can close it after making some modifications on the back side. Ok, the result after making some modification. If you place this furniture on a wall where people will not see the back side from the sides, you are good. But if the back portion can be seen wherein wire connections are noticeable, you may see a little part of the back portion of the receiver hanging out because of the cutout I made so I can push back the receiver further so I can close the door.
My verdict, I gave this only 3 stars since the company failed to consider the depth of big and huge audio-video equipment. Did I make a bad decision for buying this product, my answer is no. For the price of it, I think I am alright though making some modification. This is a case to case basis for audiophiles wanting all their equipment flawless. For some, this is a good buy, but for others, it may be a pain.

Fall ALWAYS makes me want to redecorate but sometimes the lack of money makes it impossible. So, I browsed many sites for reasonable priced furniture for guest rooms that grandaughter and grandson will use when here for holidays. I stumbled across the South Shore furniture and was quite skeptical. I had to convince myself that for that little bit of money, I was getting a semi-quality product and one that was not a horrible experience to put together. Well, let me tell you, I ordered 5 pieces and so far have put together 3, one of which was the South Shore Step One Collection TV Stand in chocolate. Oh my.....what a gorgeous piece of furniture!!!! and easy, easy, easy to put together. I then put together the two other pieces and am in heaven because this furniture is fantastic. I had read reviews from others, some good, some bad. I am fully onboard with the positive side of this company and this particular collection. If you have needs similar to mine and are trying to remodel without breaking the bank DO NOT HESITATE to purchase this furniture. Add to the mix that purchasing from Amazon is a win-win situation, especially with PRIME, and you have a recipe for success!!

(More customer reviews)I was very pleasantly surprised by the quality and ease of assembly of this stand. It is larger than I expected and my 32 inch TV looks a little wimpy sitting in it.
The ONLY problem I had putting it together was that I was unaware that the three pieces of glass are different sizes (duh, I know). Anyway, when you put this together, remember that the largest piece is the top glass, the smallest piece of glass goes in the middle rack and the medium piece of glass is the bottom shelf.

(More customer reviews)I was willing to give the item more credit than the previous reviewer, esp. based on the reviews of other comparable Crosley tables in different finishes. Big mistake--a few nicks and scratches I don't mind, but the pieces arrived in terrible shape. The finish was not consistent and was not even finished on the bottom front. The outer front sides were deeply scratched and look awful. I immediately wanted to send it back, but to return the item the company wanted $75, plus the shipping!!! They sold me a completely damaged and poorly constructed piece and wanted nearly the price I paid for it new to send it back to them. I am outraged and will never purchase from them again. Because I have no recourse in fairly returning or exchanging the item, this is the worst buying experience I have yet had--online or in store.

Techcraft BAY6028 AV Credenza Up To 60-Inch TV (Walnut) Review

(More customer reviews)I ordered this 60" Wide Flat Panel Hiboy from Amazon when it was sold and shipped directly from Amazon. I chose this item based on the reviews here and the photos of it. We've searched for a long time to find the right unit for us.
The unit arrived in 3 days. Remarkable service by Amazon. However, the unit is not well packaged. The top piece has a smashed corner, and the box is damaged in the same place. There is no cushioning, protective packaging for the corners of this furniture piece, so nothing protects it if dropped in shipping.
So we've had it for one day now. Unfortunately the piece that is damaged is the largest and most difficult part to get to in the packaging. We hoped that the manufacturer, Techcraft, would agree to replace just the piece that is damaged. They have a form on their website to request just such a remedy. I'm waiting to hear from them if they will just send us a new top piece.
However, Amazon is in the way of all these reparations. According to Amazon customer service, from a supervisor in Panama, the only recourse we have is to have a whole new unit shipped to us; and we have to repackage and send back the ENTIRE unit as a return. This is unnecessary hassle and inconvenience to us as customers, and very lazy customer service by Amazon. Amazon could work with us and Techcraft to have that single piece replaced for us (it's even numbered as a separate replaceable part), so that we would only have to send that part back as a return. Amazon is refusing to do this, insisting we must jump through all these inconvenient hoops to get a new unit that may possibly be damaged in shipping, too.
Techcraft will very likely be most willing to replace just the part that was damaged. But Amazon is requiring that we send the whole unit back, and will charge us for the replacement if we don't send the whole order back. So we will be unable to take Techcraft up on any offer to send us a replacement part.
I like that Amazon sent the unit to us so quickly, and with free shipping. But the furniture piece is heavy and unwieldy and will be difficult to put all back into the box to return. Likely the rest of the unit will get scratched or damaged by our amateur furniture packaging. This doesn't make sense that Amazon won't work with us and the manufacturer to get us that single piece replaced that we need.
The Hiboy is now being shipped and sold by a third party. Apparently they are the ones who will be sending us our new replacement unit. I am very unhappy with this whole experience with Amazon. I will never buy a large piece of furniture from Amazon again.UPDATE: Okay, so we contacted Amazon and they sent a complete replacement unit, pronto. We got it today, 9/13, and it was in WORSE condition than the first item they sent to us. This box was tattered and disheveled, like it had really been abused in shipment. We had it delivered to our personal address at the local UPS Store, which is our delivery address. The manager there advised us to not accept the shipment, as it was so evident the inside contents would be very damaged.
So, Amazon, we're sending this one back, not as a "return" (needing a return label), but as a REFUSED shipment. Please send us another one as a replacement for THIS one, which is a replacement for the original order which was damaged in shipping. The packaging on this item is just shockingly inadequate.
In the meantime, TechCraft quickly agreed to send us just a replacement for the damaged cabinet top. So we're expecting that next.
Beware of ordering this unit. It's a beautiful tv console stand, but the shipping is so careless and haphazard, you may not get what you pay for!
