"Moon" books were recommended to us as great books on travel. We are going to Maine and we have never been. We bought the book and love reading about this great state. This book has it all and is the perfect place to start a trip. We feel like we have had a great briefing. It would take much longer than we have to see everything and that is the best reason to get this book, do a little planning and dreaming. We are definitely going to Acadia National Park. Pack the book and have fun in Maine!

Having lived in Guadalajara for four years 35 years ago I knew that the city had grown substantially and I would need a guide book to get around. This book is very complete and up to date, much better than I had expected. I especially like the "Getaways" section that suggests day trips all around the region.

Moon Washington (Moon Handbooks) Review

Moon Washington (Moon Handbooks)

I recently purchased the Moon Handbook Washington, 8th edition.
Previously I have used the 6th edition by Don Pitcher. Even though the older edition is outdated regarding lodging, restaurants, etc, I found it to me much more helpful and better organized.
Specifically, I appreciated all the local area maps in the older edition (112), versus only 44 maps in the 8th edition. Also, the index in the older edition was much handier, with the separate boxes for individual topics such as fairs, ferry service, hiking and lighthouses.

Finally a travel guide that provides the inside scoop, full of information on where to go from a local's perspective. I just moved to Cleveland and have found this guide to be very useful for family outings as well as date nights. This is a fine addition to the fine Moon line. It is also the most recent Twin Cities guide, and thoroughly covers the cities and a bit of the outlying region. Very accessible and navigable and likely useful both for the visitor and the resident looking to expand their knowledge of their hometown.
