Ms. Vance lives three doors from me and I bought this as a gift for a friend who recently got into bicycling. Pat has several other books on bicycling in and around the Tri-State (PA, DE, NJ) area all of which are essentials for the non-native or new-to-bicycle-touring resident of the area. Full of maps, hints, suggestions and caveats, they are an amazing resource and will repay the purchase price over and over!
Five stars and a big Thumbs-Up!

Intimate Bicycle Tours of Philadelphia removes all the guesswork and is easy to follow, fun, and informative. The tours take cyclists from Center City's world-renowned museums and cultural institutions, such as the Philadelphia Museum of Art and Independence Hall, to the neighborhoods of West Philadelphia, through Fairmount Park, and on to the idyllic, tree-lined streets of Chestnut Hill and Mt. Airy. Every tour includes directions to the start, a map of the route, and information about visiting each site. Such practical information as where to find restaurants and bicycle shops is also included.

My wife and I had just moved to Philadelphia and we were eager to explore the area.
We browsed the travel section of one of the local bookstores and found this gem of a guide. We hadn't heard much about the "Great Destination Series", but don't let that deter you. It has an informative history section to add some perspective to the historica places you are visiting and has some great itineraries to explore Philly and the surrounding area.
While most guidebooks will skim over Philly, this one is excellent for weekend excursions and romantic getaways at B&Bs in Pennsylvania Dutch country. I could tell the author has a real passion for his adopted home town.
I just wish they had a section on Atlantic City and the Jersey Shore. Maybe for the next edition.
