(More customer reviews)Just purchased the SE-S084F/RSBS Slim External DVD Burner. Simple to hook up on my Mac Mini even though it does require 2 USB Ports - I have a seven port powered hub and it works fine using the powered hub. I burned a DVD at 8X - same as my Mac Mini super drive. Then I burned a music CD at 24X max speed it came out fine as well. Finally I rebooted my Mac Mini with the original Startup Disk that came with my Mac Mini to see if it would work and it booted without any problems. I do this from time to time to repair disk permissions and repair various hard drives. As typical no Mac software came with this burner, but it did have a Nero 9 for the PC users. I just use the burn option that comes with Mac OS X 10.6. There is no LightScribe option that comes with this burner either. It is fairly quiet in all aspects of searching, burning and booting up disks. There is not much between the case and the burner tray, so I was a little surprised that it is as quiet as it was. There is no powered geared door that opens the burner when you push the button. It just 'pops' open and I use two finger to close the door to make sure that the tray get equal pressure so it closes securely. The tray is on the light side so that may become an issue if you use an external burner quite often. It comes with a cool brushed black finish. There is a small 'pin' hole to manually extract a disk if necessary. I purchased this so as to save the Mac Mini superdrive from a lot of work as well as to boot off of the OS Disk. It is reasonably priced, but it is not a heavy duty type of burner. I would highly recommend this burner to anyone who needs an easy to transport burner or anyone on a more of a limited budget. But if you run through a lot of disks you may want to consider a burner with an automatic tray.
