The author brilliantly reaches inside of the reader and uses our own experiences and humanity to create a depth of understanding. One needn't have grown up in California to learn from this amazing teacher, especially from her knowledge of history and mythology. The analysis of the culture of California through a spiritual and intellectual perspective provides the reader with a much needed general understanding of the current state of affairs occurring in all aspects of our society, whether it be personally, media-related, or politically.
