It is odd how it is set up. You have to get high scores to unlock the practice mode. Wouldn't one think it would be the other way around? Learn the moves first and unlock the songs? You unlock the lessons. The dance school lessons are a bit hard to follow, at least for me. Others might be able to jump up and down off their knees, I cannot! There are some big songs, Thriller, Beat It, Billie Jean, but honestly there are several songs I'm not familiar with. To clear up a misconception, you do NOT need a dance mat for this. I had company over who has Just Dance 2 and said MJ the E was better. However a family member has both and prefers JD2... I've had a lot of fun dancing with this. I'm sure after awhile it's going to get 'old' as the songs don't change and there's no challenge to unlock new songs or anything but 'lessons'. For now, I love it, I'm burning calories, and having a good time.
